Our people

Colm McGivern

Director, British Council Poland

I am the Director of the British Council in Poland and lead its work to strengthen cultural and educational links between the UK and Poland, and promote the English language. I was previously Director South and Southern Africa, Regional Director UK, and Country Director Northern Ireland. Before joining the British Council I worked in education and the arts, as well as in peace-building initiatives in post-conflict societies. I have lived in Warsaw since March 2019.

Exams Manager

I am Exams Manager, responsible for Examinations Services, consisting of 14 centres across Poland. I am focused on supervising current exams-related activities, building the strategy and setting new directions for development. I am especially interested in improvements in the area of customer service and innovations in business development. I have worked in British Council Warsaw since 2002.

Ewa Ayton

Head of Arts and Culture

I have over two decades of experience in project management. I am responsible for managing a very diverse Arts and Culture programme across Poland, which strongly focuses on the creative industries agenda. I managed a three year pan-European Creative Cities project with 15 participating countries. I have extensive experience in developing effective communication and working methods to support networks and virtual working.

Head of Education and Society

I studied Philosophy at the University of Warsaw. Since 1994, I have been working at the British Council, implementing projects supporting democratic transformation, and Poland’s accession to the EU. I worked closely with NGOs, public sector and higher education institutions supporting British-Polish collaboration in the field of diversity and multicultural education. Currently I lead on Education and Society work. I am passionate for intercultural dialogue, equal opportunities and diversity.
