International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers Soundedit is a unique event that has been taking place in Łódź for nine years now. It is the only event entirely dedicated to one of the most creative professional groups – the music producers.

Soundedit is a place where professionals meet their emerging peers. Polish artists have an opportunity to meet the world’s biggest names in music industry and exchange experiences. The most renowned music producers are awarded the “Man with the Golden Ear” award.

Thirty one awards  were so far presented out to outstanding Polish and foreign producers, including: Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno, Bill Laswell, John Cale, Flood, Youth, Sir Bob Geldof and many more.

One of the main stars of this year’s edition of the festival will be Michael Nyman, one of the most innovative and celebrated British composers. He writes film music (“The Piano”, among others), operas and orchestral concertos. Also known as a pianist, conductor, band leader, musicologist, as well as a photographer and filmmaker. Although he’s too modest to allow anyone to call him a “Renaissance Man”, his restless creativity and multi-faceted art made him one of the most fascinating and influential cultural icons of our times. Michael Nyman - along with his 11-piece Michael Nyman Band - will perform in Łódź. The concert will take place at the Łódź Philharmonic on Sunday, 29 October, at 7 PM. It will include all of the composer’s most notable pieces of work written for “The Piano” and Peter Greenaway’s films.

Other notable mentions during the festival are: Gary Numan, Skalpel duet, The Residents and Holy Holy.

British Council is the official patron of the event.
