Lost and Found is the first institutional and comprehensive exhibition in Poland of American-born British artist Susan Hiller (1940–2019), one of the most influential artists of her generation.
Spanning over five decades, Hiller’s multidisciplinary practice explored memory, psychology, perception, language, belief and imagination. Her unique body of art materialised in many forms, from conceptual works of assemblage to photography, painting, and groundbreaking audiovisual installations that gained international recognition.
The range of her artistic materials and media, her eclectic personal obsessions and interests, and the ideas and themes that she committed to continue to have an extraordinary relevance today – says Andrew Price, the curator.
The exhibition highlights Hiller’s distinctive practice of collecting and transforming cultural artefacts—from everyday objects such as postcards to the esoteric—into evocative works of art that invite us to look at the world around us with renewed curiosity, imagination, and critical thought.
