“Every Minute Motherland” is a dance performance created by Maciej Kuźmiński and developed using documentary methods in response to the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the resulting refugee crisis. The performance was produced in collaboration with a Polish-Ukrainian team – including refugees – and dramaturg Paul Bargetto.

The work is inspired by the dancers’ personal stories and is based on extensive laboratory research. It explores the effects of trauma, exile, and alienation, framed within broader themes of war, identity, and the inevitable forces of history and geography.

In the face of the paralyzing narratives of television and social media, the performance shifts our attention to the bodies of witnesses – their experiences inscribed in movement and time, reaching into the spirit of ritual and myth.

From Mariupol to Kharkiv, and in every place affected by the war, artists and cultural institutions have been deliberately targeted in attempts to erase Ukrainian national identity. This project stands as an act of defiance against these crimes and a strong declaration of solidarity with Ukraine.

Following the performance, there will be a Q&A session with choreographer Maciej Kuźmiński and the performers.
