A series of film and literature events celebrating the great Polish-British writer.
From 1–11 November, Ciné Lumière will screen a curated selection of film adaptations that bring Conrad’s complex tales to life – each screening will be introduced by an expert to explore how filmmakers interpret his work.
The films screened will be Sabotage, Gabrielle, Apocalpyse Now: The Final Cut and Alymer's Folly. Alongside these, on the 7th November at the British Library, there will be a panel discussion entitled Heart of Conrad: Joseph Conrad in Contemporary Culture, which will be introduced by Robert Hampson of the Joseph Conrad Society and bring together Professor Agnieszka Adamowicz-Pośpiech, Professor Kaoru Yamamoto, filmmaker Robert Lemkin, and sci-fi author Jacek Dukaj in conversation with the BBC’s Kasia Madera.
