The Scotland and Poland: A Celebration project is a unique event scheduled for October 25, 2025 in Glasgow, the centerpiece of which will be a concert. The program will include Polish repertoire, including Andrzej Panufnik's Sinfonia Sacra, and new film music by American composer James Newton Howard.
An integral part of the project will be the premiere of the short film Young Glaswegian Voices, created in collaboration with young Poles from Glasgow. The film will tell the story of their experiences of living at the intersection of Polish and Scottish identities. Prior to the concert and screening, a lecture with RSNO's Polish concertmaster, Lena Zeliszewska, is scheduled.
The event will be accompanied by a reception to which local leaders and representatives of the Polish community will be invited.
The project actively engages young people, supporting their creativity in line with Glasgow's Cultural Strategy 2024-2030, and the RSNO Digital Team will provide substantive and technical support to young creatives.
The venture strengthens cooperation with a prestigious international institution and celebrates cultural diversity, contributing to the deepening of Polish-Scottish relations. The concert is also part of the city of Glasgow's 850th anniversary celebrations.
