We are pleased to invite English language teachers, multicultural assistants, headteachers and members of organisations supporting teachers working with students from Ukraine to share your experiences at our conference.
The conference aims to provide a space for discussing the situation of students from Ukraine in Polish schools and exploring the needs of English language teachers, multicultural assistants and school directors.
Background
The British Council promotes high-quality English teaching, learning and assessment in education systems around the world. Our vision is for more widespread knowledge and better understanding of English, empowering people to access opportunities and build international connections.
We work with teachers and organisations in Poland to identify ways that English language learning can support students from Ukraine who are displaced or affected by the conflict in their home country.
In 2022 and 2023, we organised a series of Teaching and Learning in Difficult Times courses in Poland for Ukrainian and Polish teachers, based on the British Council’s Language for Resilience programme. These aimed to assist teachers from both countries in identifying challenges in teaching and learning that arise during conflicts and in providing effective English teaching for their students.
Conference programme highlights
The conference programme will include:
- Participation by attendees in a panel discussion and focus group research conducted by the Shipyard Foundation research team.
- Workshops into action research conducted by distinguished teacher trainer, Dr Chris Sowton.
Other conference information
The British Council will cover the costs of meals at the Novotel Warszawa Centrum Hotel as well as accommodation for attendees from outside Warsaw. The conference will be translated into both Polish and English.
