We would like to let you know that the concert of Joe Armon-Jones in Jassmine club has been postponed until further notice.
Joe Armon-Jones creates at his own pace. Given the whirlwind of activity that is the new London jazz scene and his place at the centre of it, you might expect the keyboard player to be frantic, stressed out even. Yet as he prepares to release his second album in as many years (his third if you count his work as one-fifth of Ezra Collective, which you most definitely should), Armon-Jones is serene as ever.
The keyboardist, part of the Ezra Collective quintet, the main driving force behind the new wave of jazz, is at the forefront of one of the most interesting musical movements of his generation. As a solo artist, he sells out concerts, wins awards (Worldwide Award and Jazz FM Awards in 2019) and recognition of the most important music media.
The musician's second album, Turn To Clear View, fully reflects the simplicity that Armon-Jones follows in his creative process. He continues the path chosen when creating his debut album and conscientiously explores sounds, crossing the boundaries of genres. The keyboardist is tied to his jazz roots, but he also explores the sound of r & b, funk (with the help of Georgia Anne Muldrow) and even British hip-hop, giving space to one of the pioneers of the genre in the UK, rapper Jehst. The impressively diverse guest list demonstrates Amon-Jones's remarkably clear vision.
The media hype surrounding the new wave of jazz scene may fade over time, but the uncompromising and experimental music and passion with which Joe Armon-Jones creates as part of such a diverse environment will surely survive.
