‘Laure Prouvost, wot hit talk’
What's the connection between language and reality? Where lies the boundary between truth and fabrication? Laure Prouvost, by juxtaposing text with images, creates a surreal narration and establishes new contexts and meanings of words In her works, the artist analyses what happens when a typo, a slip of the pen, perhaps even a distortion or over-interpretation sneaks into a word or a text.
Laure Prouvost is a winner of the Turner Prize as well as Max Mara Art Prize. She creates films, installations, performances. She exhibited her works in Tate Britain, ICA, Serpentine, BFI Galleries, New Museum.
Laure Prouvost creates films, installations and performances. Her works have been exhibited, among others, in Tate Britain, ICA, Serpentine, BFI Galleries and at the Lyon Biennale. Her films were screened at many international festivals, for instance at the Oberhausen, where she won the main prize twice.
The exhibition at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Gdansk will be the first individual presentation artist's works in Poland.
Laure Prouvost is also part of the Moving Pictures programme, co-created by the British Council. Moving Pictures brings together an eclectic range of moving image works by some of the most outstanding British or UK-based artist practitioners.
