Maxine Peake Hamlet – for the first time in Poland!
British Council and Multikino present the film version of the Maxine Peake Hamlet show, a co-production of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, with the actress Maxine Peake starring as Hamlet. An exclusive screening in Poland will take place on 14 June in selected cinemas of the Multikino cinema chain.
Shakespeare’s most iconic work, Hamlet explodes with big ideas and is the ultimate story of loyalty, love, betrayal, murder and madness. From its sell-out run at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre comes a film version of this unique and critically acclaimed production of Hamlet, with BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake in the title role. This groundbreaking stage production, directed by Sarah Frankcom, was Royal Exchange’s fastest-selling show in a decade.
As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father’s death but paralysed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state. Hamlet is brought to cinemas by film director Margaret Williams, whose Written on Skin (Royal Opera House/BBC) won many awards including the Diapason d’Or. The film version of Hamlet is produced by Anne Beresford and Debbie Gray, the team behind the highly praised Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach, which Margaret also directed.
The screening will take place on 14 June at 19.00 in the following Multikino cinemas: Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź (Silver Screen), Olsztyn, Poznań Stary Browar, Rzeszów, Sopot, Szczecin, Warszawa Ursynów, Warszawa Złote Tarasy, Włocławek, Wrocław Arkady and Zabrze.
