Additional health and safety measures

We have extra health and safety measures in place in our teaching centres and exam venues. Read more below.

Measures in our Teaching Centres

Physical distancing

  • Physical distancing of at least 1.5 meters will be observed by all customers and staff in our premises. It will be monitored strictly from the entrance to all classrooms and public areas.
  • We will limit the number of students in each class to be able to meet the physical distancing rules set by the government.
  • Learner assistants will monitor and control the flow of young learner students before/after classes and during breaks.
  • Breaks will be staggered to limit movement around the building.

Hand sanitisers

  • Hand sanitisers will be available for all visitors and students. They will be located at the entrance, on each floor and in our Customer Services Centre area.

Additional sanitation

  • Deep-cleaning of premises will be done before the start of the summer courses and at the beginning of September, prior to the start of classes in the autumn.
  • All classrooms will be cleaned and disinfected before and after each class.
  • Toilets, basins, door handles, staircase handrails and other surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected at least three times a day.

Wearing masks

  • Students, customers and staff (including teachers and teaching assistants) will be required to wear face masks in all public and communal areas in the building and in the classrooms.
  • If you are exempt from wearing a mask for health reasons (e.g. asthma), you must provide a medical certificate confirming the exemption.

Increased ventilation

  • The ventilation systems in each of our centres are under constant control and inspection by our technical department.
  • Classrooms equipped with air conditioning units have been deep-cleaned and serviced to ensure they are operating efficiently at all times.
  • Where possible and necessary, classes will be aired during breaks.

Student arrivals & departures

  • To be able to meet the safe physical distancing rules, we will limit the access to our premises. Only students, customers and staff will be able to enter our teaching centre venues.
  • Arrivals: Students will be met on entrance no earlier than 15 minutes before classes and guided to the classrooms. Primary parents will be allowed to accompany their child(ren) to their classroom on the first day of their course only.
  • Departures: Secondary students will leave using the stairs. Primary students will be escorted to the ground floor foyer area by Teaching Assistants. Parents are requested to wait here for their child(ren). Students are not allowed to use the lifts (Warsaw centre).

Measures in our exam venues

The health of our test takers and staff is our priority. Before we open any test centre:

  • We ensure that we are following all local government safety guidelines as well as those of the British Council.
  • We brief our test centre staff so they are up to date on what to do and how to prepare for the arrival of test takers.

We have put the following measures in place to make our test centres as safe as possible:

  • Test venues will be cleaned thoroughly prior to each test session.
  • In the case of computer-delivered tests all equipment will be sanitised prior to each session.
  • Our staff will be wearing masks.
  • As cases of Covid-19 are on the rise again, in order to ensure heightened safety at the test venue, it is now required to wear masks throughout the whole test session – i.e. from entry into the exam venue to exit post-test. You will be required to wear a mask in all common areas and maintain a two-metre physical distance at all times.
  • If you are exempt from wearing a mask for health reasons (e.g. asthma), you must provide a medical certificate confirming the exemption. This should be presented when you register on the day of the test.
  • If you would like to, you may also wear latex gloves although this is not required.
  • We will provide sanitisers throughout the test venue and we ask that all test takers use them regularly or wash their hands to help ensure a safe environment.
  • We will not provide pens or pencils to test takers who will be asked to bring their own stationery on the test day.
