The tutors have established a highly successful track record for conducting teacher training and development programmes in Poland and beyond. Their CELTA and Delta graduates can be found teaching English around the world.

Magda Markiewicz

Krakow

Magda has been running CELTA courses since 1996 and has worked in different centres in Europe including IH Krakow, London, Barcelona and Palma de Majorca. As a CELTA assessor, she has visited many CELTA centres in Europe, gaining invaluable insights. Magda believes that the CELTA course can be a truly challenging experience and enjoys helping trainees in their professional development during the course. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and cycling around Krakow.

Barbara Wozniak

Krakow

Barbara has been involved in teacher training since 1994. In her EFL career - as a teacher and a Director of Studies she has worked with learners of all levels and ages She gained a lot of experience that she wishes to share with trainees during the CELTA courses. She'd like to help the teachers discover teaching techniques that make teachers' work exciting and rewarding. In her spare time Barbara goes to her favourite yoga classes and practices salsa.

Declan Cooley

Krakow

Declan started as a CELTA tutor in 2003, and since then has tutored on over 100 CELTA courses, helping to train over 1,200 teachers, occasionally training new trainers. 
He believes that CELTA courses are a truly unique educational experience for all the trainees, and he really enjoys seeing rapid changes in people’s skills and confidence over a very short period of time. He enjoys reading non-fiction and snowboarding.

James Savery

Krakow

James comes from near Tenbury Wells, in the Midlands, England. He obtained CELTA in 1989. Since then he has taught in various countries, including Bolivia, Portugal, Thailand and Italy. He is now settled in Krakow, Poland, where he lives with his wife and two children. He is an active CELTA, CELTA YL extension and DELTA module 2 trainer. James enjoys teaching both adults and children, and is developing a methodological toolkit called CASPAR, for teaching children languages effectively.

Darren Clarke

Krakow

Darren is a teacher and CELTA tutor at British Council Krakow, where he has worked for over 10 years. He enjoys being part of a small, professional and friendly team, which results in a fun teaching and learning environment for students and trainees alike. He enjoys cycling everywhere, which is easy in Krakow. He also enjoys the normal free time stuff including exploring the region, which he says, has lots to offer the intrepid traveller.

Agnes Brewin

Warsaw

Agnes has been an English teacher for 14 years. She has worked in Poland and Canada, teaching a variety of levels, age groups and nationalities. She did her Delta in Hastings in 2001 and she has been a CELTA tutor for 11 years. She has also been a Cambridge English oral examiner for main suite exams for 12 years. Agnes enjoys being able to teach English and do teacher training at the same time, and the variety that comes with doing both.

Joanna Porębska

Warsaw

Joanna Porębska started teaching in 1987 after receiving her Master's degree. She has worked for British Council since 2010 teaching adults, teenagers and young learners. She  conducted workshops for parents on supporting children learning English. Joanna is an experienced teacher trainer. After receiving Delta in 2003 she became a teacher trainer and has worked on CELTA and YL Extension courses in Poland, Latvia, Vietnam and China. One of her interests is travelling.

Steve Brewin

Warsaw

Steve taught English in Spain and Algeria before completing his Diploma course at IH Hastings in 1990. He was trained as a CELTA tutor at IH Paris in 1991 and then worked as a CELTA tutor and teacher at a number of CELTA centres in France, UK, Canada and the Middle-East. Steve now calls Warsaw home. He moved here in 1999 to help set up Warsaw’s first CELTA course and decided to stay on; working as an English teacher, CELTA and Delta tutor. He is an approved CELTA and Delta assessor.

Ciaran Murphy

Warsaw

Ciaran started teaching English in 2005. Before coming to Poland in 2013, he taught in France, Mexico and Brazil. In 2014, he completed his Delta in Warsaw and began working as a CELTA tutor in 2016. He continues to work as both a teacher trainer and English teacher of all ages and levels.

Jonathan Marks

Warsaw

Jonathan is a teacher trainer, writer and translator based in Łeba. He previously worked in United Kingdom (at IH Hastings), Germany and Sweden. He has authored and co-authored books including English Pronunciation in Use Elementary (CUP), The Book of Pronunciation (Delta Publishing - no relation to the Delta course!) and the long-defunct but still highly-regarded and much sought-after Inside Teaching (Macmillan). He is a CELTA and Delta assessor.
